Jonas Banta is Mandan and Hidatsa, and his family is from Twin Buttes and Elbowoods. He was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, where he lives and works now. Jonas is a photographer, bookbinder, educator, and organizer, and looks to bring a creative and thoughtful approach to every aspect of his life. He holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Environmental Art from U.C. Santa Cruz and a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Environments with a minor in Studio Art from Pitzer College. Jonas loves to spend his time out on the land, fishing, camping, and connecting with friends and family. He is particularly passionate about salmon habitat restoration, and has worked on projects in this field in Alaska and California.
