Jitshla Tobitha Woods, Gghayi (Raven clan), is Dena’ina Athabascan from Pope-Vannoy on Lake Iliamna who grew up in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Her mother and maternal grandparents are from Nondalton, AK. Tobitha has a background in wedding and event coordination, where she excels in planning and managing events, as well as extensive experience in office management, highlighting her organizational and leadership skills. She has enjoyed learning about the Dena’ina language through the UAF Dena'ina Language program, contributing to editing Dena’ina language books, and studying the Dena’ina people of Lake Clark while working for the Lake Clark National Park Service in the past. Tobitha takes pride in teaching her four daughters about their subsistence way of life, including traditional practices like putting up salmon and berry picking in the summer.
